Jon Goss, Interim Director

Hello. I’m Jon Goss, Interim Director of the Honors Program.  I became Director on August 1, 2006, so I am new to this position.  It is a steep learning curve, but I am enjoying the challenge.  And I am especially enjoying meeting the wonderful students in the Honors Program!  When not in the Honors office, I am probably teaching or meeting graduate students in my home department of Geography where I specialize in cultural geography, urban geography, and Southeast Asia.  And when I am not at work, I will likely be playing soccer or playing with my children, Anise (7) and Cassia (2). I also like to grow fruits and vegetables, take photographs, and body-board.

Leimomi Kawakami, Secretary

I’m Leimomi Kawakami, secretary for the Honors Program. I have worked with this program for over 35 years and recognize some of the students coming in now as sons and daughters of former students! During my spare time, I like to do crafts- from special occasion knick-knacks to leis.

Paige Wilmeth, Honors Advisor

Hi everyone! My name is Paige Wilmeth, and I am the academic advisor for the Honors program, as well as for the Army and Air Force ROTC programs. I was an Honors undergraduate at UHM, graduating with my BA in English in 1994. I returned to complete my MA in English with a focus on Creative Writing and most recently earned an MEd in Educational Administration with an emphasis on Higher Education. Professionally, I have been an academic advisor since 2000, specializing in working with first-year students and training peer mentors/leaders. Personally, I love to read, am passionate about health and fitness, and prefer to spend my weekends at the beach with my awesome family that includes four kids (ages 7, 9, 11 and 14) and a kooky dog. I love to be around people, so please stop by and see me!

Kelsie Oba, Honors Office Assistant

Hey, I'm Kelsie Oba and I am currently a sophomore and I hope to major in nursing.  Working in the honors program has made me more knowledgeable about their curriculum and how things run.  In my free time, when I'm not studying or working I like to play tennis, listen to music, go to the beach, and just relax. :)

Brad Baris, Web Developer

Hello, I'm Brad and I'm a senior majoring in Graphic Design. I tend to the website and databases and such for the Honors program. In my spare time, I like to watch movies, read books, and listen to music.
