
SOPHOMORE HONORS AWARDS
Students in Selected Studies who have completed their sophomore year and accumulated 54 credits of coursework may be awarded Sophomore Honors, a distinction that earns a certificate of achievement and a special notation on the transcript. In order to qualify for Sophomore Honors awards, students have to accumulate a minimum number of credits in Honors coursework and maintain a minimum GPA, both overall and in Honors courses.
There are three levels of award:*
1. Sophomore Honors
Requires 12 credits in Honors courses, including at least one HON 291, and a minimum GPA of 3.5, both in Honors courses and overall.
2. Sophomore High Honors
Requires 16 credits in Honors courses, including HON 101 and at least one HON 291, and a minimum GPA of 3.5, both in Honors courses and overall.
3. Sophomore Highest Honors
Requires 19 credits in Honors courses, including HON 101 and at least one HON 291, and a minimum GPA of 3.5, both in Honors courses and overall.
If you have completed or will this semester complete 54 credits of coursework you may apply for Sophomore Honors. Your application is reviewed by the Honors Program which will determine the level of the award.
* The Sophomore Scholar award is
being phased out beginning in Fall 2008, and will not be
available for students entering Selected Studies after
Spring 2009. Sophomore Scholar requires 12 credits in Honors courses and a
minimum GPA of 3.25, both in Honors courses and overall.
