HONORS STUDENT ORGANIZATION (HSO)

The Honors Students Organization is a Registered Independent Organization at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  Membership is open to all freshmen and sophomore Honors students.

Mission

The Honors Students Organization (HSO) provides a voice for students of the Honors Program.  It fosters community among Honors students through organizing a calendar of social events.  It promotes the Honors Program within the University of Hawaii and to the community through organizing orientation, recruitment, and outreach activities.  HSO also serves as liaison between  students and the staff of the Honors Program.

Activities

Honors Students Organization was organized to build a sense of unity and community among Honors students. It's a way for us to come together and get to know one another.  At the same time it is a place to learn organizational skills, promote the values of the Honors Program to the University, and to give to through service projects.

In Spring 2007, for example, the Honors RIO organized events such as a trip to see the dinosaur exhibit at Bishop Museum and community service project that was part of UHM's "Heart to Heart" on Valentine's Day, and more!
